# 18. What is a Fortune Terminal Event?

## What is a Fortune Terminal Event?

[<mark style="color:green;">**Fortune Terminal**</mark>](http://rollercoin.com/prediction-markets) is a feature that lets you predict the outcome of events happening across RollerCoin and earn from doing so.

Each prediction presents a question about a future event or milestone with an ability buy or sell shares for this question.

The value of your shares changes throughout the market based on how other players participate. If the market moves in your favor, you can hold your position until the prediction ends or sell your shares earlier if you decide it’s the right time to lock in your profit.

Instead of simply watching RollerCoin evolve, you can put your knowledge to the test by predicting what happens next.

* Will the community reach a major milestone?
* Will the top players push the leaderboard power to new heights?
* Will a league achieve a new target before time runs out?

These are just a few you’ll discover inside the **Fortune Terminal**.

Every prediction is based on real in-game activity, making every decision meaningful. The better you understand RollerCoin, the more opportunities you’ll have to make informed predictions.

## **How Does** Fortune Terminal **Work?**

Getting started is simple.

Every prediction begins with a question about a future RollerCoin event. Your job is to choose the outcome you believe will happen before the prediction closes.

To participate, you’ll spend RLT to purchase shares for the outcome you believe will happen. If your prediction is correct, your winning shares can be claimed directly from **Fortune Terminal** once the market is resolved.

When you place your prediction, your buy-in price is locked. As more players join the market, the live share price continues to change, giving you a strategic choice. You can sell your shares early to secure a quick profit or hold your position until the prediction is resolved for the maximum possible payout.

Once you’ve made your decision, all that’s left is to follow the market and see whether your prediction becomes reality.

💡 Prediction Example

Imagine you buy 400 ‘YES’ shares while they’re worth just 0.25 RLT each.\
Your investment costs approximately 100 RLT.

If the prediction resolves to ‘YES’, every winning share becomes worth exactly 1 RLT.\
That means you’ll receive 400 RLT.

**A 4x return simply by making the right prediction.**
{% endhint %}

When the prediction is officially resolved, simply head to the **Resolved** or **My Bets** tab to claim your rewards.

Every completed prediction is saved to your **History**, making it easy to review previous markets, track your activity, and learn from your decisions over time.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://faq.rollercoin.com/rollercoin/f.a.q./events/fortune-terminal-event/18.-what-is-a-fortune-terminal-event.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
